We offer intimate, safe, and evidenced-based pregnancy care for low-risk women eligible for home birth. We also offer select women’s health services. Our goal is always to listen well and serve you with compassion.
Pregnancy Care
- Initial phone visit: free consultation and getting to know each other over the phone.
- Prenatal care: we will come to you, in the privacy of your home, typically starting about 10 weeks after your last menstrual period. There will be 10-12 prenatal visits, which include listening to the baby’s heart beat, measuring growth, checking your vital signs, and monitoring risk factors. We will be talking about nutrition, exercise, and how to prepare for natural birth. We draw all standard prenatal labs and recommend a minimum of one ultrasound at 20 weeks.
- Labor and birth care: a certified nurse-midwife and birth assistant will come to your home when you are in active labor, and you will be supported through natural labor and birth. Water birth is available as an option. We will stay at your home for 2-4 hours after the baby arrives. In the unlikely event of a transfer to a hospital, we will remain with you, but your care will be managed by hospital providers.
- Postpartum care: this support includes several visits and phone calls, focusing on breastfeeding, infant care, and rest/recovery for the mother after the work of birth.
Women’s Health
Annual physicals, breast exams, Pap smears and reproductive health screenings, and non-hormonal birth control counseling are available.
